IGNIS FATUU Celebrating fastidious Medieval Rock now a days, far off known bands, that have defined and revolutionised the scene, truly is not an easy task. To furthermore invent something genuinely new is even harder. Ignis Fatuu manage the challenge in their very own way: The band does
know how to embed medieval sound in modern sound and thereby creates its
very own music. Influenced on the one hand by punk, on the other hand
in large parts by the driving Hard Rock of the late 80s and early 90s,

the band again and again pulls the audience into their spell. The program is of such versatility that it meets any kind of music taste, from soft ballads over fast rock to hard metal sound. Sunday 22.04.2012 www.ignisfatuu.de

AL ANDALUZ Incurred by the Al Andaluz Project is bringing together the band Estampie with the Spanish and Moroccan musicians of Aman Aman and L'Ham de Foc, in November 2005 gave a concert in Munich. Just one year after this meeting presented the cross-border formation their contemporary, lively interpretations of traditional Judeo-Sephardic, Arabic and Christian music.
|
The band's name is inspired by the name of Al Andalus, the name the
Moorish conquerors gave to an Iberian Peninsula. Reigned by Spain it was
known for their tolerance, wisdom, wealth, trade and flourishing arts.
People of Muslim, Jewish and Christian religion lived together for
centuries and influenced each other. In the music of Al Andaluz Project
these three cultures of the Middle Ages meet and are now once again in
full harmony and more with three outstanding voices and numerous
medieval and Mediterranean instruments like Saz, Tar, Qanun,
hurdy-gurdy. presented in the now characteristic acoustic garb of Al
Andaluz Project.
Joining us in Elfia are the three charismatic
singers Mara Aranda (Spain), Iman al Kandoussi (Morocco) and Sigrid
Hausen (Germany) and of course Michael Popp (Germany / vocals, oud, saz,
tar, Fidel, Dilruba, Lafta), Aziz Samsoui (Morocco / qanun), Ernst
Schwindl (Germany / hurdy gurdy, harmonium, portative organ), Jota
Martinez (Spain / hurdy gurdy, Citola) and Sascha Gotowtschikow (Germany
/ percussion). Saturday 21.04.2012

CESAIR It had been long since Cesair was heard of last. This prehistoric princess was a beautiful mythological person, and is the main inspiration for a young folk band from Utrecht. Called the granddaughter of Noah, she and her people set out from the land that would one day become the Kingdom of Israel, to flee from the Flood. After many adventures, they reached the then still unpopulated isle of Ireland and settled there. Aiming to capture this story in music, the band Cesair writes songs that incorporate the musical, spiritual and cultural heritage

of the countries that lie beneath these lands, creating a mixture of
eastern sounds and rhythms, Celtic dances, and European traditionals.
Since their first gig in November 2010, they have been praised for their
ability to make the audience dance and sing along, and for the
positive, preferably epic vibes that are spread from the stage. Using
various traditional folk instruments, Cesair creates enthralling
melodies that carry you away, as well as uptempo songs that allow you to
swing your hips, move your feet, and shout out an occasional 'yarr!'
and 'harr!' Saturday 21.04.2012 and Sunday 22.04.2012 www.cesair.nl

TrROLLHEIMEN Blasting bass sounds, massive drums, sublime pipes and opulent sound colours – the group from Paderborn (Germany) commit themselves to rythmic–mystic pipe music and turns the people’s chronometers back to old ancient times of other worlds. Mighty drum machine sounds, phantasmal sounds of forest ghosts and a symbiose of churned rythm and a new composing style put the audience to weird places, such as the laboratorium of Dr. Farold Eisenbaum, the fair of forests or the ship ofthe louche captain long copper. The shows of the selfnamed cabinett of curiosity are an explosive mixture of medievalism and modernism, old and new, curiosity and mania.
